Sanikiluaq 2012, polar week webinar

From March 18th to 24th, 2012 the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS; apecs.is) worked the polar outreach and education community to celebrate an International Polar Week. The goal was to connect as many people as possible to learn about the poles during this spring equinox period when all locations on the globe, from pole to pole, all have the same number of daylight hours.

There were a number of events from virtual balloon launches to polar research webinars where early career polar reserachers shared their research and work with schools and students. During the webinar on Thursday March 22, 2012 Jennifer shared some of the groups research from the Sanikiluaq, Nunavut while she was working in the community on winter field projects. Through the PolarConnect system Jennifer was able to share the work being done on eiders with over 200 students from North America and Europe in this one event.

You can watch the event here from the ARCUS archive.
